MultiGreen’s data-driven approach to solving the housing crisis with Autodesk Construction Cloud

Property development and operations company, MultiGreen Properties, plans to build 40,000 multifamily homes by 2030 through its Workforce Plus initiative. To achieve its goal, MultiGreen has chosen Autodesk Construction Cloud as its key technology ecosystem to connect data from design to operations, unlocking efficiencies and increasing collaboration to shorten the design and delivery cycle.

Defining the MultiGreen approach: establishing standard operating procedures

After experiencing the inefficiencies of inconsistent practices and systems, MultiGreen decided to implement the “MultiGreen Way” to standardise how team members contribute to implement projects quickly and cost-effectively. The first phase was to standardise procedures and requirements on a unified platform to capture consistent data to optimise the design and development of repeatable assets.

“There is a challenge to get general contractors and subcontractors on the same platform. Everyone wants to use their own system. And really that was the basis for standardisation on Autodesk Construction Cloud.”
– Randy Norton, chairman of the board.

Streamlining the coordination process with Autodesk BIM Collaborate

MultiGreen uses Autodesk BIM Collaborate to align multidisciplinary teams for coordination during preconstruction to reduce the risk of programme delays and cost overruns downstream. With Autodesk BIM Collaborate, all project information is aggregated across stakeholders in a single solution to streamline the design collaboration and coordination process. Having information in one location eliminates data silos and allows teams to easily track design changes that may affect scope and schedule.

“In this environment, everyone can see if there’s a problem. It’s all about transparency and everyone working together to create the solution needed and keeping the project on schedule.”
– Levi Naas, director of development.

Enhancing construction management capabilities with Autodesk Build

With Autodesk Build, MultiGreen can combine project and cost management workflows to better track, manage, and resolve issues on the jobsite and see how cost elements are evolving in real time. With project data tracked on a single platform, MultiGreen can maintain data ownership and ensure seamless handover for ongoing facility maintenance and operations. By standardising on Autodesk Build, MultiGreen can evaluate data to optimise assets – materials, suppliers and contractors – to drive better decisions for future projects.

“Autodesk Build simplifies the complex. With our teams connected and documents centralised in one place, the data is easy to access and allows teams to focus on the higher-value areas of the project instead of searching for information.”
– Levi Naas, Development Director.

What lies ahead for the future of multifamily housing

By applying a data-driven approach with connected workflows across the project lifecycle in Autodesk Construction Cloud, MultiGreen can optimise the way it designs, plans, builds and operates future multifamily buildings, accelerating time to market.

“We’re making a huge bet on Autodesk because we know the company’s products will provide a comprehensive platform that acts as a single screen for every stakeholder – whether owners, builders, developers, general contractors, employees or sub-contracted tradespeople – we want to operate and control our own digital environment.”
– Randy Norton, CEO.
